I have seen the only .40 KMP built on / for an Auto Mag frame and it appears to be a 6" polished bull barrel style pistol; I think Bruce mentions this (experimental) in his book also. Additionally, I remember seeing the Automag IV .40 KMP and the Competitor .40 KMP that Brian and Eric engineered as well.
Eric and / or Brian made a 454 casull conversion for the same automag IV pistol also!
As to the function of the Automag IV and III, mine function well and have given me years of shooting pleasure without any maintenance other than cleaning and oiling!

I have to mention here that the only lube I personally recommend for any stainless steel gun is FP-10 by MPC (Muscle Products Corp). Its a metal treatment that effects the molecules in the steel and smooths out all the spurs that are generated when stainless rubs against stainless. This will cure your galling problems.

Funny you mention the .454 Casull conversion. I don't recall working with Eric on this but I did manage to achieve some really potent balistics when I chambered an AM IV at the factory with this round. This was something I did on my own and would not advise anyone to do this to their pistol. By the time I was done the lug in the barrel and the slide were both worn to a dangerous level. Otherwise the project went well and the gun held up.

Hello to all. I'm new here and actually don't know alot about weapons. But I do own a BAM and I am the original owner. I fired it at one session at a firing range in 1986 and its been in the wood presentation case ever since. I even have the cardboard box that it was shipped in from J&G Sales in Prescott, AZ and the price from them was $398.50 + tax which I have on the sales slip. S/N is under 300. I have the advertisement that prompted the purchase also.
The first couple posts of this thread hinted that the price for these now is upwards of $1600.00. I want to go to a gun show and sell it. I haven't been to a gun show in 20 or more years so I'll probably get the run around.
Any helpful hints on the best practice to do this is appreciated. Thanks in advance......

Welcome aboard Jim. It sounds like your BAM is in pristine condition from what you described. Incredibly, you will probably get what you want for it, from a collector and if you're patient. It still amazes me how much these guns have increased in value.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm certain that most of you here are familiar with a number of different weapons and have experienced a newbie come along with the same type question. There's a two day show in Las Vegas starting today and I'm going to go up for a couple hours each day.
If I sell it, I probably won't come around anymore, except to let you all know what it sold for. I hope that's acceptable. Thanks again.

I forgot to post why I'm selling it. It has been in the box since I fired it in '86 and I think that's a crime. Heck I could die and it might just get thrown out with my old tennis shoes!
I wouldn't go to a firing range 'cuz I don't know where one is.......

Hey guys - Just wanted to give update on my trip to the gunshow. I stopped by almost every booth there and there were comments like, "cool gun" and "wow that's nice" and "I've read about these but never saw one". When asked how much, I said $1600. The only offer I had was for $1200 and I passed. I'll go back tomorrow to try again........

You have to find the right collector. Even at a Big Show like I assume Los Vegas is, he might not be there.
Your best bet would be Gunbroker .com if you are going to get $1500+ in my opinion.
Put it in the classified section on this Forum. I know there are guys here that would like to have it.
Good luck with yor sale.
