Just a question, are there only 1000 BAM"s made in total production, or is this a special serie?

Larry, somehow I missed this post. Great looking BAM!!! Congrats on your find. They are very accurate and fun to shoot!! Here are my two BAM's along with my two Pasadena's!!!  I had my engraving shop laser engrave the Auto Mag logo into the top of the box!!  ------------- "This is the 44 Magnum Auto Mag and holds a 300 grain cartridge and if properly used it can remove the fingerprints"!!! |

Just found this older post w/o much of a reply. I was told there were 1001 BAMs made. However, I don't know if that includes the run of XPs that Harry did and am pretty sure it does not include the very first 2 XPs Brian did. Curious why ATF allowed dupe serials XP-01 and XP-02. Anybody knows for sure, please speak up. |

Dup serial numbers? Where did you see EXACT dup serial numbers? Remember they must be EXACT. Also if the model description is different it does not count. Like model 180 v model 280, the other thing is it the same caliber? I heard if the caliber is different the serial numbers can match but most will change the model numbers/description when they change calibers. Maybe somebody with the info will set this straight. I thought Brian did 10 XP guns not just XP01 and XP02, maybe he can comment on this, I think he also knows the serial numbers that were stamped on them. That is good info because I thought they jumped around to certain reserved numbers for certain people. I remember an XP24 serial number for sale once and found out certain serial numbers always went to certain buyers, sort of like assigned for them special people, Walter Payton of Chicago Bears requested serial number 34 on his firearms, not sure if he ever had any AMT stuff. I also heard Harry Sanford might have had Larry Grossman make one as a afterthought for himself (Harry).

If I remember correctly Brian explained this in a previous post - that is eluding me right now. He explained what you (XP001) mentioned. The numbers XP-01, XP-02 are different than XP01 and XP02. I forget which ones Brian said he did. *Hopefully he chimes in and sheds some light, and reminds us once again. Brian also mentioned that people at the factory would get guns with their initials and favorite numbers on them. Each different gun & caliber with the same serial number on each of them. ------------- If you were happy and you knew it, would you clap your hands? |

Luz, I mention it cause I hope Brian would spec it again to re-fresh, not easy to search back up. His run was XP- _ _ (double digits), he said any other were XP-_ _ _ (triple digits) never seen BUT one of them(hince my handle here). Can't remember what the "Brian" run digits were and was hoping he would say or at least say how many, think he said 10 were done. He also said numbers did jump, like I said before some had "personal/Assigned" serial numbers. XP-24 was one for sale a couple years ago BUT that doesn't mean there were at least 24 made. Numbers jumped according to the Person/connection they had with AMT. The Baby XP's had XP prefix, no initials on that run that I have ever seen, hope Brian confirms

I was hoping my comment would spark some good conversation!! Well, heres Brian's XP 02 I bought from him years ago...Great, can't get pics to upload! I'll start new post titled "BAM XP 02" when I'm done here. Anyhow, what I was told was Brian did 2 XPs before Harry signed off on mass producing them as "BAMs" and then did 10 XPs as pre-production pieces. Brian's don't have a "dash" between letters and #s, so maybe the other ones DO, and thats why they were allowed. I know there were special numbers done and that's why I question the statement "1000 were made". I think Harry's may have been BAM-1001, but don't know for sure. Hope Brian chimes in on this. |
