All,

Here is a weird AMT product I had never heard of before:

A melding of the S&W Model 52 upper in 38 Special Midrange (wadcutter) with a proprietary AMT stainless steel lower.

Fascinating.

My S&W Model 52-2 is one of the most exquisite handguns I own. I wonder what this one is like to shoot?

The buy-it-now price doesn’t seem overly ambitious…. 🤔

Yeah, I saw that. I believe it's been for sale before. I see Mike Miller is offering it.

I would like to have it, but that's a lot of money. It would go nice with my Titanium framed Hardballer.

I have seen them offered 5 or 6 times in the last 5 or 10 years and the asking price on this one is lower than any I have seen in the past.

I love shooting my 52's but I have no interest in the AMT's.  Harry loved 52's and copied the grip in his Hardballers.

Not trying to hijack this post, but Beemer that is an extremely nice pistol you have, looks perfect balanced!
Just curious, is this a straight blowback or the same as the 44AMP?

That's the same as 44 AMP

As Steve says, it operates like the 44 does.

I have never fired this gun and it actually appears unfired.  They are called Hardballers as that is the only 45 ACP ammo that works in them.  In my opinion, this platform makes no sense for firing 45 ACP ammo.  The system has plenty of problems operating with high pressure 44 ammo so why try the low pressure 45 round?

This gun was built by Larry Grossman for himself and patterned after the ones he built for Harry.  The first Hardballers were made without "the bump" on the grip and were similar in feel to a 1911.  Harry liked the Mod 52's and asked for the grip change.

Here are a couple of photos.  The one shows how Larry modified the frame to achieve the cut down size.  Amazing work.

Thanks Bob for the additional info.

It sure looks an interesting tweak by cutting the frame and reweld the back-end etc!

Now it makes me wonder if it would work (and hold up) making it a unlocked blowback 45 acp...
Just need enough mass/resistance to match the (less) power for the 45ACP...
Hmm, maybe a solid bolt, heavyer bolt ears and a couple of stronger recoilsrings ? ...Confused

Do you really think it would be worth all the work?

Browning's tilting barrel system is hard to beat no matter what platform it is utilized in.

Have you seen one of the Geiger GRP pistols yet?  They are roller delayed and very well built.

Hi Bob,
No I don't think it's worth all the effort, but it I like the looks of that Harballer pistol and would be nice to see if something different would work...Just dreaming...

The GRP pistol is a nice and compact copy of the German HK G3 rifle roller delayed system.

I have a CZ 52 pistol in 7.62 Tokarev wich is also a roller delayed. (but pretty hot power)

Anyhow, thanks Bob for your splendid pictures of your collector pieces!!!Clap
