Does anybody have any way of getting Blue Dot powder? I can't find any near me, and none of my sources have any for order!! My Wildey seems to be particular about using Blue Dot, nothing else seems to cycle it as well. If anybody has any leads let me know!!

Thanks!!

As you probably already know, you can get 4 pound jugs of blue dot on gun broker for $100 per pound delivered, or roughly twice the price listed for the out of stock online sellers. This was the same situation as I was in when I started loading for my Wildey about a year and a half ago. I looked at ammoseek.com every day for a few months and then suddenly it was available at multiple online Seller sites, as if Alliant Sent out one big shipment. I bought 5 pounds and now wish I had doubled my order.  Maybe check with Alliant to see if/when they are expecting another big shipment.

I set up automatic notifications from numerous reputable online sellers like Midway, Natchez, etc. for Blue Dot. Recently there was a production run of Blue Dot and my email erupted with all sorts of notifications from numerous retailers, all saying the same thing. As it happens, I already had all I needed, so I didn’t buy any more. I haven’t checked to see if they still have inventory now.

Wildey pistols seem to be utterly dependent upon Blue Dot, and there don’t seem to be any suitable alternatives. I don’t understand why that is.

This seems to be the best deal out there. For 5 pounds shipped, it looks like it would be around $65-$70 per pound.

Thank you gents. I am just tired of paying twice the price for everything. But once again it looks like I will have no choice!!

I checked my little local gun shop this weekend, they had green but no blue. He said that alliant powders has a government contract so most of their shipments are going to them and they aren't turning much loose to the public. so it might be a while before it is very available.

Some blue dot on a auction. Doesn't give much info. Looks like 5lb can setting on a scale showing 3 pounds I guess? Shows shipping available.

May I’m paranoid but I would never buy opened powder from a stranger. Blue Dot was hard to find for quite awhile but it’s come back into production. I had a ‘watch’ for it with several online sellers of powder and received multiple notifications lately that it was back in stock. I admit I haven’t looked now though.

Omar,

Wildey Moore told me when I had my Wildey to use Blue Dot.  I was talking to him (ordering some parts as the one I bought had a bent firing pin from the PO disassembling it wrong) and wanting to use 296.  He was insistent on Blue Dot.  So I bought a pound.  I have a swaller of it left somewhere.  I think I was burning it up in some 357 mag rounds which I don't shoot often.  I had a 475 Wildey and it functioned very well using Blue Dot.  I kinda wish I'd never sold it as mine worked so well.  I've heard horror stories of Wildey's not working.

If you were closer, if I had any left in the can, I would give it to you.

Jason

Oddly the Wildey instruction manual states that the gun will ONLY function with Blue Dot?

My Wildey works very well with blue dot. I used H110 once and it didn't like it very much. I didn't take the time to adjust the gas ring for it, but don't want to shoot it that much to figure it out. Like I said, I can wait for some to come around if I have to.

Thanks!!

Just some internet buzz I came across in a blue dot search.
