I just emailed Ian a great new article on the AutoMag III from the November/December issue of American Handgunner magazine. I would share it here but the forum photo upload system is too problematic.
Hopefully he will upload it to his AMT site and then post the link here. It’s a good read. Makes me want one… |

Mike, have you shot a III before? If not, if you ever make it up this way again, I'll pull mine out, dust it off, lube it up and we can head out to the range for a few hours. Of course bringing a few others that you may/may not have ever shot. LOL Cheers & hope all is well.

Too bad he didn't test a 9mm Win Mag. Lots of cool 350 Legend bullets for it now and the magazine is plenty long enough to accommodate them. Tony |

Run it up, until you blow it up, then back it down a bit.

nice article.
@ Rumore: What difference do you notice in shooting between 30carbine and 9winmag? Lot of difference in recoil etc?

That was just too good an offer to pass up, so yesterday I trotted to the airport and jumped on a jet and flew to Portland to spend the day playing with some of John’s bingbangs. First up was the Automag III of course: ![]() Man, this thing was FUN! It hadn’t been fired for ages (shame!) and initially it failed to extract. A bit of FP-10 seemed to sort it out. After that it was flawless. Recoil was surprisingly light, less than a 10mm 1911. And the thing was a real crowd pleaser! (To be continued below…) |
