Luc, I know of a connection to Belgium from the Illinois National Guard. Our WWII unit, the 106th Cavalry Group secured the royal family from the Germans at the end of the war. I think they were made honorary King’s Guards until they made their way back home. Found this link. https://www.thecaucusblog.com/2019/08/the-rescue-of-king.html
I know our museum has a photo of a group of 106th guys with the King in front of a German 6 wheeled staff car. I will try to get a copy of it uploaded next week for you. Jim

Thanks for the history info Jim!
If you're into historic military vehicles and tanks, etc, check out the link below. Tanks-In-Town Show is the most impressive happening in belgium for me. This is a rememberance of the liberation of Belgium. A 3 day event with on sunday all vehicles ride across the towns of Mons. They actually ride along with regular traffic on the roads! Very spectacular... I guess I go visit this again this year. Its the end of next month. |

That looks like a very cool event. I am participating in a Vietnam encampment tomorrow. We will have reenactors, vehicles, a bunker, mortars and artillery pieces and small arms from both sides of the conflict on display.

Run it up, until you blow it up, then back it down a bit.
