hold open mod

This mod came from Bruce Stark's brilliant brain 

both sides tapped, one 2-56 the other 1-64.

I originally made this mod for the "Twisty" gun that Max and I developed.  I had the EDM shop burn a hole in the hold-open pin but they burned the hole all the way through the pin.

The hold-open sheet metal fell off of the pin.  I tapped both ends of the pin to hold a 2-56 Torx screw.  The metal is pretty thin on the hold-open end of the pin, but I got it tapped ok.  Steve used a 1-64 screw and it seems to work ok.  

This was done to salvage a hold-open and maybe make it easier to disassemble the gun.

Except for the recoil-rods and the trigger adjustment screws, every screw on this gun is a Torx.

You told me that you used a washer under the screw on the hold-open so that the screw rubs on the washer, instead of the frame, when the hold-open rotates.  

On another subject: Many of you already know this, but here I go anyway.  The magazine-latch used on the Auto Mag is a direct copy of the 1911 design.  Parts #57, 58 & 59.  As many after-market parts are made for the 1911, you can easily pick-up an extended mag latch and install it into your Auto Mag.   This is especially helpful if you use thick after-market grips.  E-Bay has stainless steel versions with the lines on the button like the Auto Mag.  Some fitting may be required and it is somewhat difficult to hold back the trigger-spring, part #40 while inserting the magazine latch.  The one I bought did not come with the spring or the magazine-latch retainer, parts# 58 & 59, so I just cannibalised the parts from the old mag-latch.  I wanted to use the stainless-steel Alan wrench retainer anyway.
