During a visit here last Sunday, member Yellow pointed out to me that my slide is much different than his.
The ejection port (opening) on my AMT is MUCH bigger as his IAI pistol.
I never noticed that as I only have one AMT III...
Does anyone else has a AMT with this big ejection port? I believe Mike's pistol is also an AMT?

My Irwindale AMT also has the larger ejection port:

More pics:

I can’t tell if it’s longer front to back. But it is definitely substantially wider than the earlier IAI gun. Notice that the left side of the opening on the IAI slide ends at the top of the slide, and some of the flat portion of the rib exists to the left of the opening, while on the AMT slides the opening continues much further to the left, past the top of the slide and going partway down the left side of the slide.

Perhaps this aids ejection, but it probably reduces strength.

…and here is a pic from the internet of both an early IAI and early AMT slides, both of which have the smaller ejection port:

Yes Mike, that tought about strength was also my first concern.

I think I experiment abit with havier recoil springs.
Oh BTW, now it makes me wonder if the recoilsprings and plug are differnet also...

Funny thing those AMT III's, the more you look at them the more questions come up...
