Hi,
maybe you know it already, but if you don't, try this reloading program:

I was told it's better than QuickLoad.

You just have to register to get it free.

.357 Auto Mag caliber is listed (but not .44 AMP)

Thanks for the link and the info.

I just installed the program to my computer and had a quick look at it.
Looks interesting.

I use QuickLoad for years now and was always satisfied with this program once you know how to use it. It takes some time to learn/work a new program.

I get back here after the learning curve with this new GRT one....

OK, I have played a little with this program and compared some data to my QuickLoad program.
Looks to give pretty much the same numbers.
Hereby a screenshot for the data I use in my 44AMP pistol.
This is just a targetload, somewhere in the midrange for this powder.

I didn't know you could use it without the full cartridge data.
(I just downloaded it, and I don't have your knowledge)

As I said, there is the .357 Auto Mag, but not the 44.
I was very surprised to not find the 44AMP in the list of calibers from the CIP list even on the web. (couldn't find saami either).

I hope someone will be able to enter the full cartridge data, that would be helpfull to get accurate results.

John, yes you can run the program and make any cartridge you want. (even wildcats) just click on new file (upper left corner in the program and start from there)

The max. cip pressure for the 44AMP is 2800 bar (=40.611psi) I got this from a French reloading manual written by René Malfatti 😉 Sometimes reading (old) books is more helpfull as the internet…LOL

Please allow me to make a few comments about those computer programs. I’m no expert at all about them, (or anything else) but those programs are NOT reloading manuals (as they clearly say so) but intended for the user to learn more about ballistics.  It is however very helpfull to understand what’s going on inside a cartridge. Once you experiment with all perimeters, you will be surprised to see how much the pressure can rise or drop with some small adjustments. Set bullets deeper, or even change to another brand of bullet, shorten (trim) the case etc, will make a big change.

The program gives a fast respond to the results in pressure, velocity and more, so you notice right away if you’re doing right or wrong.

It is not all that difficult to learn to use the program, you just need to be interested and willing to learn. It is very usefull to make your own personal data in any caliber, you can almost choose any powder/bullet combo and make a safe load. Start with a blank (empty file) and put in all the measurements of your cartridge. Caliber, case length, volume of water etc.

Most of the data from bullet manufacturers is already given into the database, so you don’t have to meassure them again. The most important thing is the powder listings. Alot to choose from.

GRT is pretty much the same as QuickLoad and QuickTarget, both good programs!

I would say lets go ballistic and try it out, you will get smarter every day!

Yes I saw you can make a Wildcat, but on your screen capture I see you're using the program without az specific cartridge (on left botton screen).
I thought you have to fill all data to make a cartridge before using simulation.
And I guess is the best to do so if you want most accurate results.

I see this as a tool to find better powders for a caliber, as for exemple, with H110 lot of the powder burns outside the barrel, while with your exemple you managed to burn 100% of it!

Once you have the program installed on your computer, you can edit ALL the fields and compute the data for the load you want and the exact components YOU have in hand, this will give the most accurate result for YOUR cartridge.

No, the 44AMP is not on this program yet, thats why the lowerleft window is still empty. Once I save the data to my files, it will appear in this window. The screenshot was not yet saved but only a quick try out for the 44AMP.

Exactly right, this program works well to find a powder to replace any other type or brand.
