I know this is for Auto Mags/ AMT stuff, but I have a rare Colt/ Wildey I have listed on GunBroker.

This is a very nice set and they are seldom seen let alone come up for sale.

Give it a look.

Well thats an interesting piece of history to be sure.

The pictures are not displaying super clear for me, but it looks like this gun has nicer finishing on the lower grip frame than the older models.  Was this a production update or unique to this model?

I seem to recall the frame being very 2 x 4 like with a painful to shoot sharp edge on the corners.

I had also not heard of the 45 Wildey round, only the 45 Win Mag.

Sure you want to part with it, its quite a package you have there,,,  ;-)

I have shot Wildey's since 2007.  The grips are huge, but the trigger reach is not bad.  I have never had any trouble with any sharp edges on any of mine.  Because of the weight and the gas system, recoil is not bad.  Believe it or not, the 12" barreled models really seem to be the best balanced when shooting.

The grips are thick because Wildey Moore designed the frame to take a double stack 9mm Win Mag magazine.  That gun never happened.

The production records at Wildey are very incomplete so exact numbers are not known.  Wildey had the stroke and he was in partnership with the Jordanian Royal Family and thing got screwed up.

Wildey Moore says in the neighborhood of 10,000 units.  I think that is high but what do I know.

Well its an interesting piece for sure.

You should post some photos here.

Good Luck with the sale, with both of those Bbls someone is going to be a VERY happy buyer.

At last count I think I have like 25+ Auto Mag Bbls not on frames, I cant even imagine getting started on these things.

I seem to recall them having more calibers than then Auto Mag,,,,  That could get manageable very quickly,,,

Love to see a picture of a huge collection of Wildey Bbls.

George, Wildey listed a whole bunch of different calibers in their early literature but I don't think many have come to production.  Kinda like the Lamont 30, 25. and 22.

I have Wildey barrels and guns in the 4 main calibers, 44 AMP, 45 Win Mag, 45 Wildey Mag, and 475 Wildey Mag.  These are the only calibers I ever saw in their Catalog once they really got into production.  They had 357 Wildey, 10mm Wildey, and 41 Wildey along with the 9mm Win Mag.

Where they are today I have no idea, I never see any of them.

I remember the 9mm Win Mag, matter of fact I remember the ad for it in like 1979.  Never heard of it before then.

I also seem to recall maybe a 357 Peterbuilt ???

Then there are the mainstream 45 Win Mag and 475 Wildey, but I though they were going to have something called 11mm Wildey,,,

Cant say I ever followed the Wildey much, I just saw ads over the years.

I only touched one once many years ago and thinking it was a much bigger gun than the Auto Mag.

I will tell you that the 475 round in an Auto Mag borders on being too much bullet for the gun.  I don't recommend it.  But clearly the Wildey is up to the task.

That said, I'll stick with my Auto Mags, it just fits me better.

The 11mm Wildey was the 44 AMP with the case trimmed to the same length as the 45 Win Mag.

They eventually went with the 44 AMP and set the bullet deeper in the case so it would fit in the 45 Win Mag magazines.  I have one in 44 AMP.
