I have 3 sets of recoil rods left that I had made. They are made of 17-4, hardness test at 34rc, have "cut" threads and have a 2.5mm hex so they don't get confused with originals, and they are .200 dia. I'm asking $50 a set. I am currently running them in 2 of my AM's and they are working fine. I converted my .357 from .182's to these. PM me if interested.

WOW, impressive!  I don't know that its a super hard piece to make, but it's certainly not anything I could do.

How did you make the internal hex?

I am also interested to know what serial number range your 357 is (5000 - 6000 - 7000) as I had tried to "upgrade" one of my Auto Mags to the larger rods many years ago and it would not work.  The bolt assembly could not be cycled by hand without strong resistance.  It was clear there was a problem with fit/alignment.  I tested the recoil rods and cocking piece in another gun and had no such issues so I assumed there was something unique about the higher number frames that did not allow the bigger recoil rods.  Not sure if the specs had changed or if the smaller rods were made to allow for inconsistant fit/poor quality of the later frames???  At the time other people I spoke to had tried the same thing with out luck, so I am intersted to know if you had to do any other fitting or mods to make the bigger rods work, or if your gun is a lower number frame (under say ~6500)

Either way I'm impressed!  Beer

I have a pair of Omie's recoil rods, which look very nice and thread in and out of the cocking piece the same as the brand new AMT rods I bought from Walter.

My .357 is in the 7900's. All I did was polish the little holes the rods go through, and used the old .200 springs out of my .44. The hex we drilled a hole and pressed a hardened hex tool into the hole.
