I happened across a set of grips. There is what looks like a scratch on the inside of them. Is this an "S"? As in to identify a set of "Stark Grips"?

Yes, that S is for Stark. I will sometimes spot a pair of my grips on a gun at a gun-show. I got tired of people telling me that these grips are custom factory ebony grips that Harry only gave out to his best friends. I would tell the seller that they are plastic grips and that I made them. After I was called a liar I would tell of my S under the grip. Wally Sanford gave me grief at two gun-shows for selling my un-authorized grips. I gave him a pair for his review each time and he went away. The backs of the grips look bad because of all the changes that were made to allow them to fit almost all frames without any modifications. Cheers

Thank you. These look like they are wooden grips stained black. Did you make your grips out of wood too? Can i assume that in the day you made them out of various materials?

The Shooters Grips are copied from a wooden pair but I am no woodworker. I made them in different colors. Some European countries require colored grips on a gun if you take it hunting. Japan does too. I have had a small market in France and Italy for my colored Auto Mag grips. I wanted to make them out of a soft rubber or something. If they are too soft, the grip interferers with the trigger bar and hold-open. You have to pull a vacuum on the material which makes it a PIA. I made a successful pair of soft grips in a convincing wood color for my NH AM shooter. I recently tried to make some soft grips for my short frame AMII but they are too thin and I didn't want to fight Wally on the use of the logo on the grip. I have some Auto Mag Shooters grips left but have not actively tried to sell them. Bruce, I don't see why Wally would or could say anything! Didn't the rights to the Automag name go to High Std.? And I'm pretty sure he Doesn't hold any patents on ANYTHING.
