Who modified the barrel??? Was it a 22 Mag barrel or a 30 carbine with a 22 sleeve. How does it shoot??

It looks like a 9 winmag with a .22 barrelliner (sleeve) inside. (see pin under chamber)
I just would like to see if the barrel fits inside that AMT III 30carbine slide. A 22mag barrel from the AMT II is to different to fit to a III. Just my 2euro cents... I guess it should be a .22Spitfire then, nice cartridge btw. I doubt it that the owner ever shot it, as there are NO sights on that slide... |

I never shot this. I sent the extra pics to Luc V and he schooled me about it.
So I guess I am just selling the automag 3 slide and I will add the barrel and ammo for free :)

Thanks for the pictures Ism415, they came in well.
Well, here's my thoughts on what you might have. It looks like someone's personal experiment. The way it is made, was by cutting off an original .30M1 barrel just in front of the locking piece. Then the existing cartridge chamber was reamed out to a larger diameter, and then someone insert a "homemade" .22 barrelpiece which is pinned (and threaded?)into that cuttoff section. Also needed to re-ream the new chamber to 22Fireball(?). Looks like a fun experiment and might work, but you never know until you tried it... |
