Here are a few newly modified Fail Safe Safety Levers.
These have a 2/56 stainless screw installed.
A Fractal vise is used to hold the lever & available on Amazon for $100.00
Servo drill press was used & drills used, solid carbide 2 straight flute.
A transfer punch & bushing was used to center things up.

Is this a "service" that you are offering, or a "hobby" that you just got into?

I've got at least 1 that I may need to have this done on, possibly 2.

Thumbs Up
If you were happy and you knew it, would you clap your hands?

Hello,

If I were to do this as a service there would be these requirements.

1st. price $100.00 plus shipping.
2nd. I would need a donor Safety Lever mailed out before hand in perfect condition.

The Hold-Open can also be done providing a donor is ship to me first.

Once these are done most anyone can dissemble & reassemble their lowers......
providing they have extra springs on hand but I do highly recommend doing this
in a large Zip-lock bag.......& close the zipper.  Wacko

Steve

I am somewhat confused here. What is the issue with the safeties and holdopens, that require modification? I don't see a leadup topic to this problem on the forum.

Part #30 (retaining ring) is used in two places on the Auto Mag.  One on the safety-lever and another one on the hold-open.  This part is tricky to install and requires a special tool to install it.  The clip will just pop off if it is installed backwards and may pop off even if it is installed properly.  The manual says not to re-use the clip so a new one is required.
This has been one of the problem areas of this gun.
The factory originally used a screw on the safety-lever but it was changed to the clip once it went into production.
Lee Jurras, a one-time distributer, designed a failsafed safety-lever that he used on some of his custom guns.  He also used a large automotive clip to secure the hold-open.  He also drilled a keeper hole in the frame to secure the trigger-bar spring.
I used to sell these failsafed safety-levers until I ran out of new safety-levers to modify.
I had the holes EDM'd because of the hardness of the steel.  Steve Golden has found a way to drill the hole and he does good work.
Cheers......Bruce

Here is a Hold-Open I did but these are much more difficult to hold firmly.
I'll need to machine special jaws to keep this firmly in place.

I have another vise I will try.

And these are also threaded for 2-56 .......Beer
