I have the preliminary done.  Prototyping was excellent.  Having a slight "issue" with etching/engraving, but that should be cleared up in a week or so.

ALL RIGHT! Thumbs Up

It ain’t true without photos! How about some pics of the prototype in its current state?  The shape of the wrench is the main part. Engraving is just details (although that could be the hardest part to achieve)

It works, but the etching needs cleaned up / fixed.  Both engravings are 0.005 deep.  cannot figure out why they are so different.  I'm 95% certain it's because of the different fonts.  That is what I'm working on.  As mentioned, hopefully in a couple weeks they'll be available.

HMMM- Interesting.. Looks as if you have limited the DIRECTION to rotate the bushing in your version (unlike the one shown earlier allowing rotation both directions)

It does rotate both directions.  That slot doesn't need to go all the way around as the bushing only rotates slightly counter clockwise (looking at the end of the barrel).  That is why the slot is short in that direction.  Clockwise it rotates close to 90-degrees and is why that slot goes all the way in that direction.  Also with that slot all the way around I thought it gave the wrench less structural support in that area, making it weaker.

The slot was originally built so the wrench had to be held with the handle pointing up.  Awkward.   The idea on mine was to have the handle pointing down so it could be held in the hand more firmly.

Wrong word DIRECTION..  I should gave used TRAVEL.. (or said) Looks as if you have limited the TRAVEL to rotate the bushing in your version.

A complement for your "out of the box" thinking- more material more strength Clap

Hello all,

I was finally able to get some barrel wrenches made (with the help of a good friend of mine) and I am ready to offer them for sale.

Price is $45 which includes shipping to the U.S. including Alaska and Hawaii.  For the folks overseas, the price will probably be slightly more due to obvious reasons.

Fortunately, I was able to get the material before any of the tariff's were in place.  Unfortunately once this first batch is sold, the price will be slightly higher for the next batch because of the tariff's that are being imposed on metals.  How much more?  I have no idea until I go buy more.

Sending me an email would be the quickest way to get ahold of me.  I don't log in here very often to check messages.

Thanks!

A good friend of mine just finished making some Bbl Wrenches for the AM III & AM IV (same wrench fits both). He's in the process of tooling up to produce Bbl Wrenches for the AM II.

I ordered my wrench and can't wait to receive it.  I have five (5) different caliber barrels for my Automag IV and this wrench will sure help.
Not to change the subject, but, (keep it simple stupid) was an expression used at Disney while we were making the attractions for Tokyo Disneyland and EPCOT.  Some of the older guys, who had worked with Walt building Disneyland, had earlier worked at Lockheed in Burbank, CA where they said the expression was used.  NOTE:  The original Name of Lockheed was Loughead....really.
I found this on Wikipedia :
"The phrase "Keep it Simple Stupid" (KISS) is a design principal that was first noted by the US Navy in 1960.  It emphasizes that simplicity should be a key goal in design suggesting that most systems work best when they are kept simple and straightforward.  The phrase is attributed to Kelly Johnson, a lead engineer at Lockheed Skunk Works, who advocated for simplicity in design to enhance useability and effectiveness."

Cheers......Bruce
