Looking at a amt .380 dao with serial number 34xxx looks very new but has 2 mags that are blued (?) and i can't figure out how to field strip it. it has a $250 price tag .  I would like help with birth date, originality of mags , and breakdown procedure ( link to video if possible ) ,  and is the price decent ? Thanks for your input .---- in this NOT the .380 the bolt or pin in the top of slide does not need to be popped out through the mag housing part of the frame

Ian - thanks for your reply but the amt .380 backup i looked at did not have the notch in the in the slide to align so the pin comes out or did it have the ridge looking bolt on top of the slide which has to be nocked out through the bottom of the magazine space . I have watched those videos and the gun must  have another way to break it down . It has all the markings of the amt gun stamping etc. Thanks for your time and help

The first video is from the early version, they have a grip safety
The second video is a later DAO version with no grip safety

I'm sure if you purchased it and posted up pics we could better assist you, I think $250 is a good buy if it's in good condition.

Does it have a box? Is it DAO or have any safety levers or grips? DAO has a oval style trigger guard and the early versions have more of a circle style trigger guard. Lots of different things of these, can you give more description?

No box , 2 mags that are blued not ss , oval style trigger guard ,  no added external safety items except for the trigger pull . Again the most noticeable item that was NOT there was a ribbed type of pin/bolt at the top of the slide that videos showing in order to remove it had to be punched out  using a wooden or soft metal object lightly tapping up through the magazine housing area . I saw this AMT .380 at a gun show but forgot to take a couple of pics - oh well won't forget to do that anymore . The serial # is DA34xxx & is DAO if that helps out .  Thanks for your time and info .  BY the way - how reliable was this type of AMT ?

Sounds like your looking at the later version. The first version had that pin remove rib section from slide, that is shown in the top video. The bottom video shows the later version DA with oval trigger guard, did you watch it? I'm not sure have many different take-down version there are, only seen 2 so far as shown in above videos.

As for reliable, they all should be worked with  different types of ammo to find the one it likes. My 45 has issues feeding BUT I only did a few mags and put it away and moved on to the next. NOT saying it's bad but I didn't have time to find the ammo it liked, work in the slide and anything else it might need. I know some AMT stuff needed to be worked, cleaned and lubed. I didn't have time to do any but I know it would be good once I work with it.
The model your looking at is the 380 model, which I never heard anything bad about and is the most common caliber so I don't think you would have any/many issues with it. This was the first caliber and was later expanded to include 45acp, 9mm, 22LR, 40S&W, 38 special and the 400CorBon.
If anybody knows of more calibers please add it, all I can remember right now.

AMT is gone and rare models in good condition have been going up in price due to collectors in my opinion. There are a lot of 380 back-ups in vary conditions so no shortage there. I think the current price for back-up are 250 to 400 and the rare models higher. All depends on condition and features box, manual, tags and such. At 250 I would buy it as you can always sell it at that price if you didn't like it, do they offer a test run at the range to check it out? I go to a few shops that have ranges and ask to try it to buy it (used guns only of course, their ammo and my cost too), and if it works good I already have price agreed upon and it's sold.

XP001 - Thanks for the info and your time . . I do have the owners number and with a bit more research I might give him a call . Any thought on the blued mags instead of ss ?

No thoughts on the mags, replacements as I think everything was SS from factory.
These were also in 357Sig, knew I missed one caliber.
Here are the instructions for take-down on model 380, Recommend NOT to do by factory but your choice.

XP001 - Thanks for the pics they tell more of the story . I am still questioning the non ss mags . I agree with you they should have ss ones. Also the AMT .380 I'm looking at does not have the ribbed bolt on top of the slide that needs to be punched out. I don't see the notch on the the bottom of the rail that is supposed to align with a pin in the frame that the you tube video showed to be knocked out. The hunt continues-------

The picture and take down instruction came from the same manual. It does not look like that square ribbed top section like on the first version. The first version also had grip and thumb safety with round trigger guard. I only have the 45, 38 Super and 400Cor-Bon versions that are different from the 380. You can also read that the factory didn't expect you needing to break them down as they said how to clean without doing it above the break down instructions.
If you do buy it you can post picture of it and I'm sure we all can figure it out. Blue magazines were purchased as for extra back ups and the original was maybe lost? not sure.
