How do you bend a rear sight like the one on the 44 barrel? I would have thought it would have broke by that point.

Believe it or not, I have a .357 TDE that came with a rear sight like that. I think they were made that way.

That rear sight platform is damaged. The gun was apparently dropped at some time and the platform has pivoted on the elevation screw hole. I have found that if you try to straighten it, the platform will break at the pivot point.
