Damn.

A couple of years ago my rear sight windage screw broke on my 357 barrel and I was able to source a replacement easily from Auto Mag. I didn’t know why, but I thought I had bought a few extras of each style. Apparently not, because the other day the elevation screw broke on my 44 barrel, and when I went to my small stash of spare parts I came up empty.

What’s worse, Auto Mag shows them as discontinued now. Censored

Does anybody have a spare elevation screw to sell me? Otherwise, my 44 is basically a paperweight.

Please PM me if you can help. Thanks in advance!

All,

Here is what it looks like when it happens:

Any ideas about getting the remnants of the screw out, without dismantling the sight?

Bruce is about your only hope.  I don't know whatever happened to Brian's Surplus that used to have parts.

One of these days I have to try to make one of these things...it's the spring loaded micro ball bearing that throws me...

I thought Patrick at Auto Mag bought all of Brian’s stuff?

I know there was a push to get another batch of these screws made in Oregon. What happened there?

Mike that is a shame
What I was told about Brian's parts is he made a list and wanted to sell it all at one time but no one steeped up to the plate to buy it so he has put it in storage and will wait till someone else shows some interest in buying the lot, if I recall he was asking $45,000.
Keep your eyes open on eBay and contact Bruce but remember these pistols are 50 years old and parts are only going to get harder to find.
Good luck

Yes - been there, done that about a year ago.

I went to Horrible Fright and got myself a cheap pair of Chinesium needle-nose pliers, then thinned-down the tips with a Dremel.

That made them slender enough to get into the hole and open up enough to grab onto the teeny nub still sticking up and slowly unscrew it out a quarter-turn at a time - whew!

Luvz2Shoot happened to have a spare he was willing to sell me - I believe it was made by his machinist buddy but I seem to recall that the machinist's workshop went up in flames or something :(

It is good to see that you got it out.

My machinist friend is rebuilding and close to being up and running.

I do have a few spares that I can let go if needed.

Feel free to PM me if interested.

If you were happy and you knew it, would you clap your hands?
