You know, If they keep things small and sustainable at USA firearms, that might workout better for everybody.

I went through some data ( ATF, I think) Yearly reports on Firearms Production in the USA. It seem Wildey was producing less than 100 units a year for a number of years. It works if you can keep the bankers away from your door!  It's good not to get too far ahead of yourselves.

Having said that, It's still a good idea to get head on  Wildey parts :)

Just a thought, Does the wildey ammo from USAfirearms indeed have BlueDot in the rounds.

Also, there has been talk of people that own single action pistols done from the factory. Any thing to that? or do they just grind off the tab on the transfer bar. And yes, my double action trigger feels like a dime store cap gun. David

Yes, the factory ammo is loaded with Blue Dot.  If you look on their web price list they even sell Blue Dot.

I ordered my Wildey in single action and it still has a horrible trigger.  I complained to Jessica and Charlie told me that there is not much they can do without a complete redesign of the trigger mechanism.

Now I love my Wildey, but the trigger is pure "Rube Goldberg"

Can I suppose that those bullets are from Hawks with a shape ofter than FMJ?  Which could help explain one of my little issues .

Too funny, Lol.  Now that's the phrase I should have used whenever I talk about Brownings (1911's excluded)!

Well.... Since the topic on this thread was New Wildeys, if somebody you knew was going to buy one, which Barrel length , Finish, and Caliber would you recommend... and why? Would it be the same if you were buying one... again?

Me? I think the 10" Just looks right, the 12" is just starting to look cartonish, The 8" Almost

One of mine started out in life as a "Hunter Guardsman", but the matt finish was just ugly to look at even though is was near NIB. It would pick up a scratch just thinking about it. Redone in almost a mirror finnish (A hell of a lot of work!) , it lights up the room and is a real head turner. Not really a fingerprint magnet either.

45 Win mag. Because die sets for .475 are too hard to track down, and why have a .44 AMP if your not already set up for it, like me?

The barrel extends rearward into the receiver quite a bit on a Wildey.  Even my 8" gun looked like it had a short barrel on it.

I would go with 10" or longer.

I've seen pictures of the 5" model. It looks like the world's noisiest staple gun. Very rare I bet.

A Wildey "Pin gun" looks like something from a Star Wars/ Star Trek convention. Which means, I want one !!    Rare also, No?  Something tells me that if i find one, It will be well used.

The 10" model is the most "common" from what I recall.

"standard" finish vs. polished was what most came with originally. I don't think the "matte" finish was nice to look at... it just looked... wrong.

As far as caliber, I wish I had had the 45WinMag instead of the 475. The 475 was difficult to find bullets that grouped and brass was completely impossible to find at reasonable prices.

The 10" barrels were slightly easier/more forgiving with the gas adjustment. That extra 2" made a difference on many guns.

I would still never buy another gas operated gun (except an AR pistol) unless I knew EXACTLY what I was getting into.
