Fair warning, this is off topic Embarrassed

After 15+ years of hard use and countless repairs, ts time to replace my well used Craftsman mower.

Any opinions on riding mowers, looking a a John Deere vs a Husqvarna both are just under $2K.

Thanks

GH

Why bother with obsolete products?
XXI century brings us robot mowers.
So much better!
One of my friend got one: he's sorry he didn't bought it before.

I'm not sure it really matters much between brands when you're looking at light duty home owner mowers.  It's like deciding between a Hi-Point, Jennings, Phoenix Arms, RG, etc.

A commercial unit is going to run you $7k on on the low end and there is really no comparison.  Same with chainsaws.

When it comes to lawn type equipment most top tier manufacturers make both types, but you want to avoid comparing......say a Pro Model Stihl saw to a box-store Home Owner Husqvarna and vise versa.

Tony

Edited to add a show-off pic of Pro Stihl saws. They go all the way around the perimeter of the shop.  53 total.

" I'm not sure it really matters much between brands when you're looking at light duty home owner mowers."

I keep hearing that but what I think many do not realize is that the most bottom riders (in the $1000 range) are quite a bit more flimsy than the ~$2000 models, pretty much like looking at the $2000 John Deere vs the commercial version.

My 15+ year old Craftsman 1000 was a bottom end unit at the time I bought it, but its still much better than built than the current bottom end units.

And in truth the current ~$2000 models are clearly a notch up from what I have.

At this point I am close to pulling the trigger on a John Deere E120, it enough for what I do.

Unless someone knows why anything else is any better in that price range, I'll be shopping for a Home Depot end of season sale soon  ;-)
