Funny thing is when I first wanted a Auto Mag back in 1979 - 1980 they were out of business and this is before the internetand I couldn't find one for sale and when I found one  they were too expensive so I settled for a .357 DE in 1982-or maybe 1983..... my wife's cousin from from Nebraska bought it for me, it was only $375.00 if i recall and I named that gun Fred and oh boy was it a blast, I never had any problems with it working correctly but did find it did not like all ammo's, it would stovepipe and liked the hottest ammo I could find, I remember finding about a 1000 rounds of reloads in the recycler and boy was Fred happy to shoot that stuff off. I never had a problem with it feeding .357 but I was a stupid kid enjoying something louder then me.

Rimless design of the 44AMP helps with avoiding feeding issues and magazine stack.

I have only the shot the DE in 50 AE, so I cannot say anything about feeding problems with the rimmed 44 Mag in it, but that have been selling the DE in 44 Mag since the beginning and I have never heard a of a problem.

Have you had a problem in the past???

I even shot my 44 DE with the 14” bbl with no issues.

Thats what I thought so wanting a DE in 44 AMP doesnt make a lot of sense to me.

Maybe there are other reasons???

The cartridge they are now pushing is the 429DE which is the 50AE necked to 44.

The last time I fired my DE 44Mag I used silhouette loads and I had no feed issues. That was quite a few years back. I've never used the long barrel I have for the 44 nor have I ever fired my DE 50AE (it remains nib) so I don't have a reliability, comparison.

Truth be told there is only so much large bore handgun shooting I can take before I grow tired
of the recoil and muzzle blast..

I'm actually sad to read even one or two more guys are bailing on the New AMP project
as I did.

I'm sure I'm like everyone here and I really was looking forward to getting one of the FE versions.
There are so few times during my time in this hobby when I've had the chance to get in on something like this. For years I walked by AMPs new in their boxes at the old SFGX in SF and then later when the custom short run AMPs hit the market I was oblivious to them as I wasn't really active and informed in the hobby. Now having this opportunity I eagerly jumped on it. Sad that it's encountered so many setbacks. I remain hopefull that sometime either an FE will come up or I still may have an opportunity for something similar..

At this point there aren't many firearms I'm willing to add to my collection. I can think of only one other and it's so rare I have a better chance of being struck by lightning than finding one that I could afford: A .45 Gabbett- Fairfax Mars  pistol- the first auto Mag!

The 429 DE and the 440 Corbon are not interchangeable.  The shoulder on the 429 DE has been pushed back to give a longer neck helping eliminate bullet setback from recoil in the mag.  Also the shoulder angle has changed to 30 degrees to help with some headspacing troubles.
