I missed out on the "offer" for the foam inserts that RoadKing(?) had up for sale.
I have found a place that will do custom cut outs in the PE foam. I'm thinking of having a bunch made up because the more I have made the lower the price per each. Before I go order XX I'd like to ask..... Is anyone here interested in a foam insert for the original black plastic AM case?
I'm thinking of having cut outs for the pistol (6.5" barrel), 2 magazines (maybe 1?), oil bottle and allen wrench pouch. I will talk more indepth with actual measurements and layouts from their program [hopefully] next week. Afterwards I'll try and make a basic drawing of what it would look like and post (or send via PM).
I'm thinking the PE foam where on the bottom of the case, and the nice "softer" PU foam for the lid. Any suggestion would be appreciated. It will look very similar to m2hbvic's except in the original Auto Mag case - and without the extra barrel insert.
If interested please shoot me a PM so I can get a rough idea of how many people are interested.
I'm not looking to make any money so it will be pretty much for cost. Shipping would hopefully be in those flat-rate shipping boxes at the post office (if the inserts will fit in one of them).
Thanks and please let me know if interested.

I was able to pick up the foam inserts yesterday. I had the company cut one of each (1 magazine and 2 magazine). I did not order a quantity of any as they said that they can get me them at any time, and I don't want to "get stuck" with an over abundance of one particular kind. They are made with polyethylene foam, 1.7# (density). They will fit in the medium express boxes at the post office. With the cost of shipping that box and the foam it'll come out to about $50 per foam set. A set would include the top and bottom pieces for the case. Thanks, John

I was thinking the same thing too. But when the lid closes it makes a pretty tight fit.

I think if you cover that foam with blue silk or velvet, the case will look awesome.

Ultra suede makes a more durable finish than velvet or I should say wears better. would need to be glued to the foam material. FWIW dept.

Piping with the ultra Suede could be used on the inside edges of the cut out to employ a more professional touch.
