I picked up an odd Automag II magazine that has a window in the side of it so you can see how many rounds are in the mag. It wouldn't seat in the gun due to the front edge hitting the slide stop. After cutting that back, it slid right in and functioned fine. The base plate is also aluminum and the base plate retention piece is different.

Nice pics, is that pic on the orange mag a before or after? Not sure how much you had to "trim" to make it fit. I also notice the top edge of lips are shorter than the other mag., maybe it was the first version mag. Was it matched with a firearm or purchased alone? Maybe aftermarket maker mag? Maybe High-Standard version?

That's a before pic on the orange mag. The feed lips are definitely shorter on it and the spring is quite a bit stiffer. I bought the mag as a single unit, not with a gun.

I have seen this style starting to pop-up at gun shows for the past couple years.  I have been hesitant and reluctant to try them.

About 5-6 years ago I bought 2 "new" magazine with the orange follower (like your black follower mag.).  They looked identical to the "original" styles so I assume they would work ok.

I got them home and to the range and could not get 3 rounds to load in either one!  Believe me, I tried!  It was hanging somewhere.

The next gun show I brought them and 5 rounds with me.  I went to the vendor (who is a magazine seller at EVERY show).  I asked for my money back.  He looked at me and pointed to a sign that said "All sales are final."  I handed him the magazines, and the 5 rounds, and said "load them".  He tried and tried and couldn't get 3 rounds to load either.

We had a little conversation and he turns to his cash register and pulls out the money for them and hands it to me.  He then says "We've had a lot of complaints from those."

So I asked "Why do you sell them to people knowing they are bad?  That does NOT look good for you."

He took the other 3 off his table and says "You're right.  These are going back and I'm not selling them anymore."

Now, a few years later, the "new" kind that you show are starting to pop-up.  I wonder who is making these and wonder if they actually did some re-engineering on them.
After the slight mod to the front lip of the body, how does it seem to work & hold up?

If you were happy and you knew it, would you clap your hands?

I only filled it up and ran it two cycles of 9 rounds each, and it ran fine.

Those mags fit the Excel Arms Accelerator series pistols and rifles. I've seen them fairly regularly advertised on Ebay as AM II mags and often inform sellers of their mistake. But not every time, and they dont always change the auction.

Well, there we have it. No wonder it didn't fit.

OR we can spin this the better way, now we know with a little filing off the side we can get 22mag magazine for the Automag II by using Excel Arms Magazines. What were they selling them for on fleabay? Looks like a good mag with that window.

Tony, seriously, If its very easy to modify these mags, you might want to do a youtube vid of the mod to let folks know of the cheaper replacement option avail. for AM II mags.

On the other hand, its not up to you to help the uninformed, but I think you might be open to it. Seems your a pretty good guy.

If anybody needs the loading tool for this mag, I have a few. Shipping is about $3, even for such a light item, so will sell for $4 shipped. pm me.
